The Associated Press contacted Wholesale Furniture Brokers for their view on the rising prices from furniture makers. Dave Zirnhelt, the chief executive of Wholesale Furniture Brokers, was able to contribute to the article that was published in The New York Times on April 16, 2010.
"On a retail level, you don't want to raise prices because it's tough to convince a buyer that what they're getting today is worth it when they paid less yesterday," Zirnhelt said. On the other hand, furniture producers have "got to raise the price at some time or you're digging yourself into a hole."
